Mother's Day Announcement

My Dear Readers,

I never thought I would have to write this. This blog has been an integral part of my life for over one year and I derive so much pleasure and enjoyment from it. It has taught me so much and I have made some wonderful friends! However, I have to take a temporary break. You see, Mr. TMH and I are expecting!! As a result, this week was the first week where I really started to abhor scent and it is getting worse by the day. I get headaches and nausea from a simple sniff so the thought of writing an entire review is overwhelming to my nose and body, and of course the little miracle growing inside. It has been a long, hard road for us to have a child so this miracle deserves every ounce of energy I have! I am so sorry to disappoint temporarily but I know that you are all wonderful people and that you understand. I promise to come back as soon as possible!! In the meantime, keep smelling, sampling and investigating those harder to find fragrances.

On a brighter note, Happy Mother's Day to all mothers! Your nurturing, protection, care and hard work deserve applause, this weekend and every day.

Much love to all,

Tamara

T,
I have faithfully checked in everyday to read this blog. It is one of my favorites and you are an incredible writer. You have such an elegant , ladylike spin on things. I usually like a scent if you do! I wanted to leave my first comment and say CONGRATULATIONS! I am a new mom too, and you are in for the ride of your life! So get ready! I couldn't wear perfume for the first six months and favorites like Hermes's Ambre Narguille would leave me gagging. In fact I still can't tolerate certain scents. But it's all worth it, let me tell you! I wish you and your little family the best and try to keep us posted... :-)

YOU JUST MADE MY DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm SO ecstatic for you, all of you !

Not to worry about the smell-thing-
It's just temporary.

[I can't believe the sorts of fragrances that appealed to me, when I was pregnant-
I can't abide them, now, LOL !]

You're not off my radar, baby-
Not by a loooong shot !

Happy Mother's Day !
[Thank you, St. Gerard Majella...]

Kayliana,

Thank you so much for coming out of hiding to write such heartfelt and kind comment! Congratulations and Happy Mother's Day to you. I am so glad you've enjoyed my musings and I look forward to writing more when my nose gets back to normal. Oh, and the gagging? Yup. Done that already. ;-)

Dear Chayaruchama,

When you said "Happy Mother's Day" in your comment the other day I teared up because I felt it was so intuitive on your part. St. Gerard has heard a lot from me in the last 18 months!! I'm so relieved I'm not off your radar, for it would break my heart to lose you. I love you, my east coast Jewish mother!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Congratulations on your wonderful news! The perfumes will always be there. In the meantime, maybe you can update us on the new ways in which you smell the world. My pregnant friends always have interesting stories to tell, and I'm sure you will, too. May God bless you and your growing family! - minette

Congratulations! And follow what your nose tells you.

Minette,

What a fabulous idea! So far, I feel like I have become a dog, who identifies objects in the world by their smell. "If Only You Knew How Much I Smell You" is the title of a book all about dogs, and I feel like it could apply to me these days! Thank you for your blessings and thoughts!

Thank you Jenavira! Great advice!

Oh, oh, oh! Congratulations! =D

What a wonderful reason to take a break, T! I'm so happy for you two.

Take care, and we'll be here when you get back!

Happy Mother's Day from R and me, too.

Thank you Toasty! :-)

Thank you so much L & R! The Sniffa is going to have to wait a little bit - at least for me. It's only in the last couple days that I have become very intolerant of scent! I couldn't have seen this one coming if you asked me!

Perhaps we can get together and have a non-sniffing meal some time? We would love that!

Tamara -
I am so happy for you! I always check in and read your blog, but my fiesty 7 month old leaves me little time to post lately. I have been hoping and praying for this to happen for you - not the hating smells part (LOL!) - but definitely the baby part. You take good care of yourself and that little peanut. And keep us updated - if not on perfume, then just on how you are doing. I would love to get together some time for a non-sniffing adventure :-).
Congratulations again!
Patty

Congratulations, Tamara - and enjoy your pregnancy. I remember feeling sick 24/7 for the first trimester, so that the second three months felt like paradise! I wonder if your tastes will have changed by the time the baby's born?

My darling friend, Tamara, I am going to miss your writing so much! But that will make your return all the sweeter! We will all be waiting patiently :)

I want you to know, I am soooooo happy for you! I wish I could be there to give you a huge hug full of warmth and love.

Kisses dearest,

Divina

Oh Congratulations! As a mama of a 19 month old you are in for the most wonderful, most frustrating, most rewarding experience of your life. Word of advice do things like read as much as you like in the next 9 months. things like that that you won't have much time for later.

CONGRATULATIONS! i am so thrilled for you! maternity leave extends to blogging too, right? ;)

PattyAZ,

So nice to hear from you! And thank you for your well wishes and congrats! I will definitely keep everyone updated. I'm so glad to hear your baby is keeping you busy and I completely understand! We should definitely organize a non-sniffing get together with anyone who'd like to come. :-) I can use all the sticky baby dust I can get from a great mom like you.

Nina,

Fortunately 24/7 has not been my experience ... yet. But I do feel pretty crummy most of the day. It will be interesting to see if my tastes change at all. I've often dreamed that suddenly I will love leather and chypres after my pregnancy. Hehe!

ForTheLoveOfPerfume said...

Perfumequeen,

Congratulations to you! (Better late than never, right.) I hear you 100%.

ForTheLoveOfPerfume said...

Oh Divina I feel like I'm abandoning you!! I so appreciate your sweet words, as always. That hug would be great right about now. Hehe.

Kisses and big hugs right back!

Risa,

I like the way you think! Maternity leave in reverse - at the beginning of the pregnancy - works for me! Would you believe I am not wearing any fragrance? At all?? Such a bizarre thing hormones are. I never thought it would impact me this way but I look forward to later days. :-)

Congrats on what you're have obviously been dreaming about: a great journey is awaiting you and it's a most happy moment!
Many wishes!

Oh my goodness, T, that is wonderful news! The best to you, Mr. TMH 256 and your beautiful baby.

But don't tell us you are leaving just yet, my dear. This phase, too, will pass. It's so horrid, you think you will never love perfume again. But you will love it even more and will be able to happily spritz again.

Hugs!

Hello Dear R.!

Thank you so much for your kind words!

Oh, I know it will pass but it's so unbearable right now. I commit to coming back; I'm just not sure when. But I look very forward to the day that I can enjoy my wonderful fragrances again!

I have so busy since Mothers day and finally got to check your Blog.. WOW.. Please add my warmest Congratulations to all of the others you have received..
My two children are now 13 and 11 years old, I can say with my whole heart and soul that they are the best thing that I have EVER made -- my husband can attest to that as well.
I loved your opinions, advise, non-snobby comments.. Some perfumista's seem elitist to me, but you welcomed everyone!!
i will miss you, and keep out of the meat area of the grocery store for about three months, man, that smell was hard to stomach!!

I would love to hear what names you and your hubby have thought about..

God Bless you and your husband and BABY to be..

Truly,
Giulia

Giulia!

Hello and thank you! Don't worry. You can't get rid of me that quickly! This is just a temporary break so I'll be back as soon as fragrance smells good again. In fact, I have some good news. I was able to wear Escada Collection to a black-tie event last night! It reminds me of Cola drinks which taste really good right now. Hehe.

Thank you for your comments about my forum. I really try to create an open, safe, non-judgemental place to discuss perfume for everyone. Elitism has no place in a topic as frivolous as perfume, in my opinion. Granted some people do take it seriously and I'm grateful that perfumers do. But as consumers I don't think any of us will talk about what perfume we wore or liked on our death bed. You with me?

God Bless you and your beautiful family. I will be back!!

xoxo,
T
