Did You Know ...

Last year alone, women spent $1.92 billion on fashion designer scents? (According to Allure magazine.)

How about a few new designer scents to check out, if you haven't already? Listed in order of intrigue:

  • Prada Infusion d'Iris - Florentine iris

  • Emilio Pucci Vivara - galbanum, bergamot and amaretto

  • Emporio Armani Diamonds - rose and ??

  • Eau de Givenchy - grapefruit, tangerine and tuberose

  • DKNY Delicious Night - crushed ginger, blackberry martini and amber

  • Dolce & Gabanna The One- bergamot, lychee, Madonna lily, muguet, plum and vetiver

I usually carve out a few hours and head to Neiman Marcus or Saks Fifth Avenue to try the new fall designer offerings. Perhaps this year I will find a full-bottle worthy scent. What are you excited to try?

And a discovery over the weekend: Stella McCartney In Two. I adore the original Stella and Stella Rose Absolute. This one combines a playful peony, pepper, amber and patchouli eau de toilette with a perfume solid that focuses on amber. I don't know how crazy I am about layering a solid perfume with a spray - it might be too much work - but the peony spray made my Sunday more delightful.

Hey there, T! I had not heard about the DKNY -- it sounds really interesting. My latest discovery (and purchase at Saks) was EL Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia. You know that was right up my alley! At the moment, the one I'm most looking forward to trying (due out in December) is Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Silver Factory. And, of course, anything I can check out at the NY sniffa!

Hope you're doing well!

Hi Linda!

Doesn't that DKNY sound interesting? I've had my eyes on EL PC Tuberose Gardenia but have yet to sniff. If you bought it, then I'm sure I'll like it! I have not heard about Silver Factory but what an interesting name. I'll have to research it. And I'm green with envy at your opportunity to go to the NY Sniffa. Promise me you'll send updates!

Have a great day.

The ones I most want to try are Agent Provocateur Strip and Fendi Palazzo. There's also a new Vivienne Westwood that was announced on Scented Salamander over the summer, named after a now-defunct London nightclub, I believe. Recalling the notes, I think the Fendi is the one I'd be most likely to buy - the bottle is gorgeous, too.

Oh, I love the name of Agent Provocateur's new one and I saw that new Fendi bottle - gorgeous! Keep me posted on what you find. :)

Tuberose Gardenia is one of the most creamiest, honest to goodness gardenia scents I've had the joy to sample. I lined up all my gardenia samples and had a private sniffa! EL Tuberose Gardenia was so far superior that I know I'll be spending some serious $$ for a full bottle. I wore it to work last week, having daubed a few drops in my cleavage. (someone said to try this as your body heat would warm the perfume and it would rise) Wow, how true it was and I happily sniffed this delicious scent for the next 9 hours and it was still going strong even after dinner. This is a 'you get what you pay for' fragrance.

Divina,

I haven't seen it in stores here yet but I have yet to really search for it. I'm sure if it's available at Neiman Marcus, they'll offer samples. ;-)
